Each Recruit Group company around the world conducts CSR activities in tandem with its business activities, working to tackle the issues faced by local communities and building partnerships with NGOs and NPOs.
Advantage Resourcing America, Inc.
Earning Our Halos
For the last four years Advantage Resourcing has been the title sponsor for the Angels of Hope Annual Golf Outing. Angles of Hope is a resource for families with loved ones suffering with cancer. The Golf Outing is the organization's largest annual fundraiser.
Our team participates in the Golf Outing by entering teams made up of staff (pictured below) and local customers. It is a great opportunity to spend time with customers and help a worthy cause.
Giving Thanks and Beating Cancer
For Thanksgiving, 2013, the staff in Norwood chose to support the We Beat Cancer organization. They started a food drive hoping to give 5 cancer patients and families enough food for a complete Thanksgiving meal. Through the generosity of their co-workers, they received enough food to fill 27 baskets for patients and families... each also contained 2 Stop & Shop Gifts cards worth $40 for the turkeys and other essentials! Boston Medical Center identified the patients who would receive these baskets and delivered them to these families.
Making Spirits Bright for Children "The Home for Little Wanderes" -Angel tree
In December each year, the staff in Norwood puts up an "Angel Tree" in the front lobby. This tree contains tags with the names of local boys and girls that, without some assistance, would not have any gifts to open on Christmas morning.
Angel Tree children have come from varying organizations. This year, they came from The Home for Little Wanderers. The kids have all different backgrounds and home situations. Staff members are asked to voluntarily select a tag and purchase either a toy or an item of clothing for that child. Most staff members take multiple tags and/or purchase multiple items for their "Angel". It is an unbelievable display of generosity each year and in 2013 it allowed 128 children to open a gift Christmas morning.
The Angel Tree program has been in place in Norwood since 2010. It is certain to continue for many more to come.
The CSI Companies, Inc.
Supporting Dreams Come True
CSI has partnered with Dreams Come True since 2012 and has fully funded nine dreams for local children. These dreams have included family vacations on a Disney Cruise, an Alaskan vacation and even a back stage pass to a Rock and Roll concert in Texas.
The cost of each dream is $5,000. CSI employees personally raises this money through fundraisers and special events throughout the year. These activities include bake sales, Happy Hours as well as our community fundraiser and silent auction, which annually raises thousands of dollars.
As one of our main initiatives of the year, we devote a lot of time for planning, including the solicitation of auction items, event preparation and a great deal of communication to clients, vendors, employees and the media.
Making a dream come true is especially rewarding for our employees because we personally get meet the child and their family and get to witness firsthand the power of a dream fulfilled. Making a dream come true is fulfilling and inspiring and makes employees thankful and positive, which is great for morale.
Supporting "American Lung Association"- Lung Force Run/Walk
CSI has supported the Lung Force 5K Run for the past two years to benefit the Northeast Florida Chapter of the American Lung Association. Our sponsorship and participation in this event is a great opportunity to gather employees together in a fun way while supporting a great cause.
More than 25 employees participate in the run, each of them committing to raise funds for the cause. Between personal donations and company fundraisers, CSI is annually one of the top 3 fundraisers for the event.
One of the most rewarding parts of the partnership is how our employees get together to raise money. Our fundraisers enable our employees to get creative, have fun and socialize for a good cause. In 2013, CSI held a 1980's Happy Hour, which consisted of a contest rewarding employees who dress most creatively in 1980's fashion. This year, we held a very competitive Coin War, which featured divisions competing against each other to collect the most coins to donate to the cause. Both events were great for the culture of CSI and truly helped employees feel the power of giving back to the community
Supporting "Multiple Sclerosis Society" - Bike MS
Bike MS Cycle to the Shore is a 150-mile bike ride in Florida. Riders collect money from donors to participate in the annual event. The CSI Companies has had a CSI Team for the past 5 years and, most recently, has sponsored the ride with marketing dollars.
In 2013, CSI became the official location for all riders to pick up their race packets, which created a significant amount of walk up traffic to our headquarters location. We kept the event festive by entertaining guests when they arrived. This year, CSI sponsored a unique promotion at the various rest stops along the 150-mile route - The CSI Selfie Hotspot. This promotion featured the CSI logo at 7 rest stops, encouraging riders to snap a personal or group picture and to post it on social media.
This is one of the most popular and rewarding partnerships and fundraisers at CSI. On average, our team raises approximately $4,000 per year. It is most gratifying to know that not only does this event support a great cause but also helps on of our former employees.

Any excuse to raise money for our chosen charity
In October 2013, nominated Cancer Research UK as their Charity of the Year 2014. Since the nomination, staff across all our locations have raised ￡2, 239 for Cancer Research UK, through selling old mobile phones, a charity football match against a key client, holding a raffle with a prize of a flat screen television, a themed dress down day and running Christmas and Easter -themed charity days. At London HQ we love nothing more than a bake off between offices and our Easter themed 'Cream Egg' bake off was one of the best yet.
For the Bobby Moore Fund to perform the research of colon cancer, We held a fundraising event on Friday wearing our favourite football shirt. We were all focused on raising lots of money for the Bobby Moore Fund- totalling an impressive ￡198.61.
Don't we look good?- Jeans for Genes day
On Friday 20th September 2013 and 19th September Advantage Resourcing wore their denim to work for Jeans for Genes day, an annual event raising money for Genetic Disorders UK. Advantage Resourcing has been supporting this event for the past six years and were pleased to do so again this year, raising just under ￡500 to help children born with genetic disorders and their families.
Across December 2013 and April 2014 a number of our offices decided to run appeals to benefit local charities and those facing a Christmas and Easter marred by ill health. Our London offices collected toys for the 600 children spending Christmas and Easter in the Evelina and Variety Children's hospitals.
In Manchester, our office chose to support St Ann's Hospice, the largest in Greater Manchester, looking after 3,000 patients a year and their families. The collection was aimed at collecting items which could be either used in the hospice or sold in the hospice shop over the Christmas period, to raise some of the ￡16,000 they need each day to meet demand for their services.
Serving full English breakfast
Six of our London employees helped 250 of London's men and women on an early Wednesday morning in June. Tasked with cooking a full English breakfast, supplying toiletries, a listening ear and a welcoming smile, the experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all. And is safe to say we serve a cracking fried breakfast and they will certainly see Advantage back in their kitchen soon!

Scholarships and subsidies by the Ezoe Memorial Foundation
The Ezoe Foundation was established in 1971, on the tenth anniversary of Recruit's founding, to consider ways for the company to contribute to society and to encourage and support people with leadership potential, people with a strong desire to learn, and people with promise for future achievements.
Since the foundation was established, it has provided scholarships to 562 people, many of whom have become prominent in their fields. In recent years support has gone to young people globally active in the fields of music, art, and sports. In fiscal 2014 the foundation began providing grant funding to groups in addition to its scholarships for individuals, expanding its support for development of the young generation.
As we enter an increasingly global age, the Recruit Group will continue to work to discover talent and help young people striving to make their mark in the world.

The Mashup Awards, one of Japan's largest web development contests, are held annually to discover talented young or individual web developers. It was begun as part of our activities to continue exploring new possibilities while giving back to the world some of the web service technology cultivated by the Recruit Group. The Media Technology Lab opened in 2007 plays a central role.
Information technology and services are progressing and spreading rapidly, but appropriate information is not always provided with technology to make it easy for users to use. MTL combines the latest information technology with services needed by users, serving as an empirical research organization to explore possibilities for convenient information exchange based on novel concepts.
MTL uses existing Recruit Group web content, including from the Hot Pepper restaurant information and AB-Road overseas travel websites, and provides open Web APIs allowing external access to the databases so that contest participants can create new services and applications.
The Mashup Awards are held as an open contest of works using these Web APIs. They were held for the tenth time in 2014, attracting increasing attention as a place for open collaboration between businesses and web developers.
The Media Technology Lab was opened in 2007 as a cutting-edge operation to stay at the forefront of changes in technology and consumer behavior. Media technology changes information behavior in each era, and these changes in people's behavior make it essential for companies to transform themselves. Based on technology that is open, collaborative, and innovative, we are working to present entirely new forms of encounters for each new age.

Donation of unused sales promotion goods to welfare organizations
The Recruit Group's publication activities extend to many forms of media, and we create a range of sales promotion goods to mark inaugural issues or renewal events. After these events we have leftover clothing items like T-shirts and jackets, towels, stationery, and other items. We donate these to organizations in Japan so that they will be put to good use.
Support for employees' social contribution activities
Recruit has established a matching gift program in order to support social contribution activities carried out voluntarily by members of our Board of Directors and our employees. In this system, whenever an executive or employee makes a donation, the Recruit Group donates the same amount to the recipient organization. In fiscal 2014 we matched 57 donations for a total of ¥1.75 million.
Volunteer leave system
In response to requests by many employees for company support for their volunteer activities, in August 2011 we set up a volunteer leave system letting employees take five days of paid leave for volunteer work each year. For continuing support of volunteer activities, we also pay a part of the expenses incurred in these activities.
|Individuals taking volunteer leave||370||26||34||3|
|Applications for support for expenses||435||235||74||40|
